Dear my friends, thank you for today! Thank you for making this event a successful one! And thank you for having me on this very special occasion. Today, I am proud to call myself a Malaysian, a land where food stands out as one of the most diverse and flavourful in the world.

When I first heard of the scale of this competition, I was in utter shock. Well, I mean, how can anybody be so inclusive, open-minded and creative? A culinary competition with over 80 categories? This is not just about the breaking of Malaysia Books of Records, this is about a mega-celebration of food, a celebration of the world’s longest and continuous culture that serves as the most important bridge between all of us!

Food unites us all. For some of you who have travelled halfway across the world and finally landed in Kedah, Malaysia for this joyous moment, I salute you. We share the same beliefs in food. As you see, food appears in so many different forms, while they serve the same purpose – happiness. As for my fellow Malaysians, thank you for representing Malaysia with your skills and love for food. We eat, we talk, we (pointing myself and the audience), FRIENDS.

As the Organising Chairman of World Chefs Championship, I am very honored to be standing here today, witnessing the rise of our talented chefs. I believe that you have gone a long way, and have a long way to go from today. The preparation of delicious food is not always easy – It takes time, it takes patience, it takes sincerity and determination. Be fearless, be open to every ideas and opportunities that ever comes by, because you never knew when will they approach you again. Take it as a mission to serve the people around you, to feel the smiles on faces with food, and you’re definitely the world’s happiest chef.

Lastly, a piece of advice for all of my non-Malaysian friends here: Enjoy your stay in Kedah and Malaysia, and don’t forget to step out of this place, get yourself something to eat on a typical Malaysian street, embrace the diversity and remember the wonderful tastes Malaysia has to offer!

Welcome to Malaysia! It’s a great pleasure to work together with Malaysia Culinary Masters Association for this RECORD-BREAKING COOKING COMPETITION ever held in Malaysia. It is my honor to have the support of Kedah State Government, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Base Industry, Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture and international judges to attend this wonderful event to share their expertise to the participants.

It takes great effort, lots of time, dedication and hard work inclusive numerous training to bring success by executing it right. Cook at your best, be innovative and creative but never forget the basics to achieve your goals and medals.

The most important thing is not to win all this recognition, it is a chance to showcase our ability and learn at all times to achieve greater height in the culinary industries. Come to showcase your talent, innovation, and creation regardless of which corner of the world you are. Food has no boundary; it unites and inspires.
